HARRY POTTER – A SOCIAL EVOLUTION

The HP series has gone through a lot of evolution in the past 12 -years. Dumbledore as portrayed by the late Richard Harris in thefirst two films was passed on to actor Michael Gambon upon the death of Richard Harris. During the 9-movie deal a host of Oscar winning actors/actresses would portray many of the characters, Maggie Smith, Oscar winning British actress would play Professor McGonagall, Alan Richman, the bad guy in Die Hard would play the severe and brooding Severus Snape. Other award winning actors like Shakespearean actor/director/producer Kenneth Branagh, his Oscar winning wife Emma Thompson, Helen Bonham Carter, Miranda Richardson, Gary Oldman, Seldom has so much acting firepower been assembled in a single film – or series of films. In addition to Smith, we’ve seen Emma Thompson (five Oscar noms and two wins), Kenneth Branagh (four Oscar noms, including one for directing), Julie Christie (four noms and one win), Julie Walters (two Oscar noms), Irishman Richard Harris (two noms), Ralph Fiennes (two noms), John Cleese (one nom), Helena Bonham Carter (one nom), and Imelda Staunton (one nom). This month’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince also introduces 2002 Oscar winner Jim Broadbent (Iris) to the cast.

The ended reign of “King James” Dobson

Many of Colorado Springs 588,000 citizens were glad to hear the news this week that (Dobson) “King James” as he is referred to in that Colorado city, resigned this week as board chairman of Focus on the Family, the politically-active ministry he founded in 1977. Dobson’s resignation as board chairman “lessens his administrative burden,” code-word for not getting along with the board-of-directors and politely being allowed to exit “gracefully” before an ugly bitter fight and being forced out.

Zack and Miri make a controversy

Americans like their sex behind closed doors.
Americans love “to do it” but we feel uncomfortable talking about it. Well someone has to talk about it. Someone who is not a quack like Dr. Ruth or Dr. Laura. Someone other than the Hispanic gangbanger looking to bang your daughter.

What makes 40-Year-Old-Virgin a funny comedy and Zack and Miri a controversy? One word.

The devil is in the details and religious whack-jobs like James Dobson, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson are foaming at the mouth. They live for soundbite moments like this.

how can we have an honest conversation with our kids about responsible sex when we make comedy’s that lie to them? Or comedy’s that lie to ourselves?

Obama’s nation has begun

The man just won the election not one week ago, will not take office until Jan. 20, 2009, and already the Neo-Cons and Neo-conservative grassroots organizations like Grassfire.org and others are already on the attack.

But you know Grassfire.org will not publish the names of the 1-million so called resistance, because there are not 1 million people who resist an Obama administration (likely one hundred sore Neo_con losers who bungled McCains campaign and are now crying in their beer). Grassfire.org will not publish the names of the donors who are funding this “tripe” they call resistance because the names would be people like McCain, Palin, Limbaugh, Cheney, Limbaugh and other’s who have lost their power and now have to sit idly by on the sidelines the next eight-years planning and scheming their comeback like the little spiders they are.
