Dr. Murray should be held accountable for gross negligence. Not calling 911 for 30 minutes. No excuse. Michael could possibly have been saved with the life-saving drug NARCAN, had paramedics arrived right away. Murray robbed MJ of a chance at survival. As for CPR on a bed, simply outrageous. Dr. Murray should voluntarily stop practicing medicine.

I am so saddened by all of this. This death did not have to happen.
I am a nurse and I know this was handled incorrectly.
He was such a gentle person and did not deserve this.

The extremes in American society want Armageddon. They have placed themselves in a position where no amount of reform or correction will ever be enough. The system has been portrayed as impossibly flawed for so long, that it has become an article of faith that the only thing to be done is destroy it, and rely upon the cleansing powers of violence and chaos to create a newer, better nation. Having fatuously decided the rest of our fates for us (with the media’s complicity, as chaos and bloodshed means ratings) extremists on both sides have decided to gum up the works and impatiently await the coming conflagaration. May they be the first to burn.

We are really badly served by our news media on a wide range of issues involving serious risk and potential dangers. The swine flu fear is a good example – as the panic subsides, who knows what the eral situation is? Drawing more on British news I’ve looked at the same problem on my blog and discussed it in terms of economic crisis and climate change as well. There’s a lurch from panic to complacency that allows little space for what we really need these days – calm reflection.

Absolutely. I’m appalled by the way the government here in the UK are turning the country into what really is nothing short of a police state. Most of my fellow Brits had never even heard of Michael Savage before our rather vile Home Secretary decided to ban him from coming here. Now, as you rightly note, everyone is scouring the web to find out more about him and his show. Apart from anything else, I gather he wasn’t even planning a visit anyway.

The whole affair of excluding people whose views differ from our own (or rather Jacqui Smith’s) is disgusting. It cheered me enormously to see what that Savage character had to say about her. I can’t say I share his other views, but he summed up Jacqui Smith perfectly.

I guess you wrote this before Adam Lambert appeared on the scene. He absolutely meets you criteria of someone who has learned, and continues to learn his craft.

Its not about finding fourty people who really can perform, its about creating an environment where that one, very special performer, can rise above the crowd and show their true talent.

And if you want a show for non-singers then, as you correctly point out. It’s called “Americas Got Talent”.

Great analysis, now how about doing the South Suburbs where I grew up in the 50’s. I can’t believe Carpentersville is any more a ghetto than Hazelcrest, Harvey, Ford Heights and Chicago Heights.

american idol is nr 1 on tv and for a reason: the main stars, paula and simon, have amazing chemistry. and paula abdul is an AMAZING choreographer/dancer. but i think its their chemistry that makes the show nr 1
