Here’s my question. In 1994 when Michael was arrested and put on trial for child molestation, where were all these so-called, solid citizens then? Where was Al Sharpton’s biting criticism of the media and papparazzi who tried and convicted Michael in the media before a trial even began? Where was Stevie Wonder and why was he not standing shoulder to shoulder with Michael throughout the ordeal? Or Brooke Shields, Michael’s so called best friend? Where was brother Jermaine when Michael needed family and guidance after his disastrous trip to Berlin, Germany where the King Of Pop dangled baby “Blanket” over a hotel balcony. Clearly Michael needed help raising those children. Where was the Jackson 5 then? After Michael made them all millionaires by age 9. Only Elizabeth Taylor stood by Michael throughout all of it.
Fair weather friends every single one of them. It’s easy to be an icon’s friend after he has died- harder to be his friend when he has been arrested for child molestation and put on public trial. Heaven forbid, Stevie Wonder, Brooke Shields or Al Sharptons reputation be stained. Avoiding guilt by association is more important to Hollywood’s biggest stars than being a true friend. One need only look at the deaths of all big stars, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, John Belushi, William Powell- they all died alone yet I bet many people claimed to be their “good” friend or their best friend.

The press conference was called at the last minute on a busy holiday weekend, in Wasilla, Alaska and the news was even more unexpected: Sarah Palin, a potential 2012 presidential candidate, will step down as Alaska’s governor. Since Palin first burst upon the scene in 2008 as McCain’s running mate- Palin has been the running butt of one joke after another. Even parodied by SNL’s Tina Fey. Maybe Palin got tired of being a joke or perhaps the former Gov thinks she can skirt scandal and investigation of wrong-doing by stepping aside. Whatever the reason, the Republican Party is breathing a collective sigh of relief that she is gone and will not be running for President in 2012.

If bologna had a first name, it was Oscar. Oscar G. Mayer, retired chairman of the Wisconsin-based meat processing company that bears his name, has died at the age of 95. Generations of kids grew up singing the Oscar Mayer song, visiting the Weiner-mobile and feeding their kids Oscar Mayer hot-dogs. He was the third Oscar Mayer in the family that founded Oscar Mayer Foods, which was once the largest private employer in Madison, WI. Mayer retired as chairman of the board in 1977 at age 62 soon after the company recorded its first $1 billion year. The company was later sold to General Foods and is now a business unit of Kraft.

McNAIR KILLED BY “OUT OF CONTROL” MISTRESS
Just two months after Steve McNair taped a youth suicide prevention public service announcement, his lover shot and killed him as he slept. Nicknamed Air McNair, was an American football quarterback who spent the majority of his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans. American gridiron star Steve McNair was asleep on the sofa when he was shot dead by his young mistress in a murder-suicide last weekend. Nashville police confirmed Wednesday that Sahel Kazemi, 20, killed McNair by shooting him four times before shooting herself once in the head.
Kazemi had been distraught in recent weeks about making ends meet financially. 
She feared her rent was going to double because a roommate was moving out on her. She was also making payments on two cars and dealing with a drunk driving episode. She told friends and associates that her life was all messed up and that she was going to end it all.
Police said Kazemi purchased the gun illegally in the days leading up to the murder.
“While we may never know exactly what drove Ms. Kazemi to make that decision, the totality of the evidence clearly points to murder-suicide,” said police spokesman Ronal Serpas, adding there was no suicide note. “We believe there was evidence she was spinning out of control.”
Five shell casings recovered matched the weapon purchased by Kazemi last Thursday. The five bullets recovered were all fired from the weapon at the scene. Nashville-Davidson County assistant medical examiner announced that traces of gun residue were found on the hands of Sahel Kazemi and confirmed that their deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, with McNair the murder victim.
A three-time all-star, McNair shared the most valuable player of the NFL award in 2003. He was married and had four sons total: Steve Junior, Steven, Tyler and Trenton.
TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE BOX OFFICE
A movie that many movie critics called, “Loud, Obnoxious, and Loud, ” the “Transformers” sequel (REVENGE OF THE FALLEN) has topped $600 million worldwide in 14 days of its release. That makes it the second-fastest movie to top $300 million, behind last summer’s “The Dark Knight,” which made it in 10 days. Whatever happened to the days when movies told a story, had gripping narrative, biting dialogue? My fear is that young movie directors today will see the success of mindless sequels like Transformers 2 as a “get rich quick” career and that a dozen years down the road, the only movies America will have at the multiplexes are mindless sequels. The summer 2009 hosts at least a dozen sequels including Star Trek, Harry Potter, Transformers.
