Elvis had one. So did Anna Nicole Smith and Marilyn Monroe. They are the doctors who cater to celebrities, dispensing powerful painkillers and sedatives to some of Hollywood’s best-known entertainers. “It’s become a culture with celebrity doctors who in one sense get a sense of importance by hanging around with celebrities.

Iran election crisis- “peace train” derailed in Iran

Being tight-lipped in the face of this crisis is not about abandonment of principle, nor is it a retreat from our historic advocacy of democracy. It is, rather, an acknowledgement that what is happening reflects a split in Iran’s ruling religious council, as well as a calculation of the probable effect of our words and concern for the well-being of the Iranian people. if we push hard for a recount, orinternationalal observers, or accommodation to the will of those Iranians clamoring for the installation of presidential candidate Mr. Mousavi, how will our pressure translate in Tehran? There is a very real possibility that the incumbent, Mr. Ahmadinejad , would rally the public to his side by railing against the “outside interference” such pressure would represent. This step, in fact, is already under way. Then, identifying his political opponents as a fifth column for Iran’s external enemies, he would turn international pressure for open elections into a hunting license.
Cellphone-itis, a more infectuous disease than H1 N1.

Here’s a cultural phenomenon that drives me crazy. Everyday, no matter where I 42-17203532am I see women walking around with a cell-phone stuffed in their ear canal engrossed in a intense conversation about God-knows what. There’s an obsessive/compulsive condition prevailing in our society which I describe as “cellphone-itis.” This addiction to cell phones reaches across all socio-economic classes, ages 15-50, among both males and females. This seemingly uncontrollable behavior has turned people into mini-robots who walk, and drive, oblivious to the world around them as they focus totally on the phone in their hand as if it were a crystal ball. It’s as if they have an insatiable need to hear a voice, or to send and receive a text message minute by minute.

“Don’t ask” because this Supreme Court “Won’t tell.”
The Obama administration comes under growing pressure to use his executive powers to place a moratorium on the discharges while he lobbies Congress to overturn the controversial 1993 law which was enacted as a compromise after then-President Bill Clinton set off a mutiny when he tried to allow gays to serve openly in uniform. More than 13,000 troops have been discharged for being gay since 1993.
Since then, times have changed, and the public is more supportive of letting gays serve in the military.
Roadsinger: the long musical evolution of Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam)

It’s been a long, long road since a young British singer with long brown hair and almond brown eyes burst forth upon the American music scene in the 1970’s becoming a musical legend by the name of “Cat Stevens” but the roadsinger is back and better than ever. The 70’s have returned.
