The media learned a new word this week which they are using incessantly:
Pandemic: A pandemic (from Greek παν pan all + δήμος demos people) is an epidemic of infectious disease that spreads through populations across a large region; for instance a continent, or even worldwide. You know what else is pandemic and spreads across a Continent or even worldwide? A entrainment-based media with a gossipy style that blows news stories totally out of proportion, causes widespread panic for soundbites which they repeat incessantly and for ratings to show advertisers. There remains the fact that newspapers and TV/Radio media are reluctant to look beyond the advertising revenue model.

It may not appear in the shape of a light bulb above your head, but researchers say “Ah ha!” moments are marked by a surge of electrical activity in the brain.
Mutual of Omaha said in a statement Friday it has been granted preliminary approval of a federal trademark for the slogan “official sponsor of the aha moment,” which became part of Mutual’s national advertising in February. There-in lies the rub, Oprah Winfrey and Harpo Productions
(Harpo – oprah spelled backwards) Inc. is claiming rights to the phrase “aha moment.” Oprah and Harpo Productions demanded Mutual stop using the phrase to promote its insurance and financial products. So Mutual filed its lawsuit Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Omaha.

There is a war going on folks between the Conservative right wing media (Fox News) headed by loudmouth nut-jobs like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck and the Liberal media who have on their front-lines Jon Stewart and Jeanine Garafalo. The war has nothing to do with you and me folks, or even with Obama’s first 100 days in office and his lack of experience or credentials to do the job. The war in the media is being fought for money and ratings, control and power. The latest weapon being pulled out of the bag of dirty media tricks is the use of vulgar sex terms as a metaphor.
They want you to “teabag” to. They want you to teabag Obama on Twitter, they want you to teabag the White House, (mailing teabags), on Facebook, teabag liberal thems before they teabag you and all this non consenusal teabagging is just the start. Non consensual teabagging action gets Senate seal of approval. Fox News is promoting hate speech and an ugly homosexual reference of a sex act and translating it into political action.
it’s insanitea.

It would make for a great TV show if it weren’t tragically already reality. The cast of the real-life “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here” was retitled this week by federal-court judge James Zagel with a new title “You’re a criminal and an impeached governor-you’ve got to stay.”

The jailing of Saberi clearly shows Iran’s contempt for women, the United States and the world courts. Saberi is innocent.
President Barack Obama has said he wants to engage Iran in talks on its nuclear program and other issues — a departure from the tough talk of the Bush administration. Iran has been mostly lukewarm to the idea, but on Thursday Iran’s hard-line president gave the clearest signal yet that the Islamic Republic was also willing to start a new relationship with Washington and that’s where Saberi’s arrest and conviction come in. Saberi is a political pawn, plain and simple.

They wed the most beautiful girls; they are building big houses; they have new cars; new guns. Piracy in many ways is socially acceptable. They have become fashionable.
Most of them are aged between 20 and 35 years – in it for the money. And the rewards they receive are rich in a country where almost half the population need food aid after 17 years of non-stop conflict. Most vessels captured in the busy shipping lanes of the Gulf of Aden fetch on average a ransom of $2m.
People, like these Somali’s who have their backs up against the wall have nothing left to lose. You cannot threaten them away, chase them away, or put an end to piracy. It took eight-centuries (800-years) to out an end to the Barbary Pirates. Today’s modern-day pirates grabbing super-tankers can do a lot more damage in a smaller amount of time. It’s too late after a worldwide ecological disaster to say, “I told you so.”

What America needs right now is not immigration reform- America needs a moratorium on immigration. Impose a 5-year moratorium on immigration. Take a look at the numbers, see which countries are over represented and which countries are underrepresented and make adjustments.
The immigration system as we have it now, is a system so broken beyond all hope of repair that we must declare at least a 5-year moratorium on further immigration except for emergencies to give the system a chance to repair itself. If we do not- by 2020- most Americans will be speaking Spanish.

For the past decade, critics have said that “SNL” had lost its touch. The cast was horrible, un-funny, the skits were badly written. There was talk that creator Lorne Michaels was thinking about pulling the plug. It was widely acknowledged that at some point in recent history Saturday Night Live, the once popular and wildly hilarious comedy sketch show, completely ceased being amusing.
Then something extraordinary happened, suddenly SNL was funny again.

In the genre of the superhero movie, gratuitous-sequelitis typically manifests itself by a need to add so many prequels, sequels and remakes to the mix that the end result is one big morass of mediocrity. If Hollywood doesn’t get this disease under control- it will be the death of the industry and the death of original, thought provoking Academy Award quality pictures
